Bears Mourn Loss of Student-Athlete Marquese Meadow

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Morgan State University is saddened to report the death of one of its student-athletes, 18-year-old Marquese Meadow, a 6-foot-2, 300 pound defensive lineman from Washington, DC.

Marquese graduated from Friendship Collegiate Academy in DC. He is described by his teammates as an affable young man who found it easy to make new friends. According to Morgan's new head football coach, Lee Hull, Marquese was very friendly and likeable off the field but on the field, a fierce competitor.

"Marquese was a great young man and a member of this family who was highly respected and loved by his teammates and coaching staff. He was an unselfish kid and had an incredibly bright future and will be deeply missed."

Marquese fell ill during one of the team's workout sessions two weeks ago. Arrangements are incomplete at this time. The Morgan State University family sends condolences to Mr. Meadow's loved ones and we pray their strength and comfort during this difficult time.

The team asks that media members respect the privacy of the players, coaches and athletics staff during this time of mourning. Those paying tribute via social media are asked to use #MSUMarquese90.
