Five Bears Participate in Shadow Program with the Baltimore Ravens

Lenier Tucker Jr.
BALTIMORE, Md. -- Five Morgan student-athletes participated in the Athletic Excellence Fund's (AEF) first shadow program with the Baltimore Ravens this August.

The AEF and the Ravens agreed to begin a pilot program that would allow student-athletes to shadow front office executives and other Ravens personnel.  The purpose of the new shadow programs is to allow busy, time-exhausted student-athletes a short amount of time to gain exposure, and to get a glimpse into careers that they are interested in pursuing.

The Ravens' organization is a good fit because of their location and popularity in Baltimore.  Many student-athletes aspire to take their classroom learning and on-court skill sets to the professional sports arena as executives and professionals. This opportunity allows them face-to-face conversations with those that have already carved out career pathways to success.

The opportunity allows organizations like the Ravens an early look at intern candidates, and perhaps future employees.  Additional upcoming shadow opportunities for student-athletes will include Baltimore's McCormick & Company.

The Athletic Excellence Fund, the primary fundraising vehicle launched in February 2016, has a focused mission to collect corporate and individual giving for the MSU Athletics department.  It's core fundraising goals are to secure resources for student-athlete scholarships and professional and personal development for student-athletes.
