The next morning, we, along with our cohorts from Bowie State and Philander Smith College, started the day off with an early “East meets West” breakfast. We departed the Aloft Hotel and headed to our host site at the Beijing Foreign Studies University.
Our day there began with an opening ceremony and a presentation by Ambassador Yonglong Chen. We were then treated lectures on Chinese History and Culture, and The Cultural Differences between the US and China. The lectures were very insightful in that they both provided a foundation to help us better understand the Chinese environment and how their perspectives may be different from that of Americans.
Finally, we ended the day with a camps tour and later partook of the culture as we ate some delicious food at the world famous Peking Duck Restaurant. Overall, we are really enjoying learning about China and the collaborative experiences that we are having with our student cohort and chaperones.
