Morgan State Community Preps for Inaugural 5K Run & Walk:

Event to Benefit General, International Study Scholarships

More than 1000 members of the Morgan State University community will take to the streets of Northeast Baltimore on Saturday, April 30 for the Inaugural MSU 5K Run and Walk, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the front entrance of the University Student Center.

Presented in partnership with the university’s ‘Team Up to Clean Up’ Program, funds raised in support of the event will benefit the Morgan State University Foundation and its general and international study scholarship funds. Event organizers say that the program and event were inspired by Morgan President Dr. David Wilson’s commitment to healthier living and continued community engagement beyond campus borders.

“This is an exciting event for Morgan State and our entire campus community,” said Cheryl Y. Hitchcock, Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Morgan State University and Executive Director of the MSU Foundation, Inc. “We look forward to joining our neighbors from throughout Baltimore to raise much-needed dollars for our bright, deserving students.”

The 5K Run and Walk will be the first in the university’s history. Presentations to event participants and raffles will immediately follow the race, and free parking for the event will be available next to Hillen Rd. and on the Stadium Way campus roadway adjacent to Hughes Stadium.

The event is open to all Morgan students, faculty, alumni and members of the general public. For more information, call Mr. Jared Perry at 443-885-2048.
