The Department of Sociology & Anthropology, in partnership with the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention (GOCCP), will host the second annual Disproportionate Minority Contact (DMC) Conference on campus on Wednesday October 3, 2012 (University Student Center). The conference is free for all registrants (including MSU students, staff, and faculty). The DMC initiative focuses on a federal mandate to reduce the rate of contact, amongst minority juveniles, from arrest to waiver in the adult criminal justice system. The issue of disproportionate minority contact is reflected in many settings, including Trayvon Martin and the Jena 6.
Online registration is now closed. Walk-in registrants MUST contact Dr. Natasha C. Pratt-Harris – 443-885-3506 or Natasha.PrattHarris@morgan.edu.
