Morgan State University Coordinator of Student Activities Toya Corbett has been named among Maryland’s Top 50 Women Under 40 by the Maryland Daily Record. An annual listing attracting more than 100 candidates, Corbett was recognized for her civic service and professional achievements.
As student activities coordinator, Corbett counsels, mentors, and prepares students for campus leadership positions and encourages scholastic achievement through educational and cultural programming. Her office has responsibility for advising the Student Government Association, Greek Life, Leadership Development and managing over 75 student organizations. In addition, she is an adjunct professor for the College of Liberal Arts.
She is the creator of the Leading Ladies~Leadership Development and Personal Growth Series; a four-pronged program designed to assist, cultivate, and encourage academic and career success, leadership skills, self-awareness, financial fitness and teambuilding among the female student, faculty, and staff population at Morgan State University. Over the last six years the program has served and trained over 200 women at the University.
Corbett is a member of NASAP-Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, Association of College Unions International, the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, the Association of Black Women Historians, the Morgan State University Women and the Philomathians.
Corbett is a 2005 master’s alumna of MSU, and is a PhD candidate in history at the university.
