Architecture at Morgan Achieves Six-Year Term of Accreditation

The National Architectural Accreditation Board (NAAB) has officially granted a six-year term of accreditation to the professional architecture program. The program is scheduled for its next comprehensive accreditation visit in 2017.

The findings for academic achievement were nothing short of spectacular! Of thirty-two rigorous Student Performance Criteria, one criterion – only one! – was listed as Not Met. This was the subject of acoustics, part of Environmental Systems.

It is extremely rare for any of the more than one hundred and thirty schools of architecture in the United States of America to meet all thirty two of these academic student performance criteria, even while attaining a full six-year accreditation.

A Visiting Team from NAAB evaluated the three accredited Master of Architecture tracks in Department of Architecture last spring, and the results were recently made official by a meeting of the NAAB Board of Directors. The visiting team included representatives of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA), the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the American Institute of Architects Students (AIAS), and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB).

The complete Visiting Team Report is part of the public domain, and will be available to all students, faculty, staff and the public through a link on the Department of Architecture Morgan State University website.

Congratulations to students, faculty, staff, and administrators, School of Architecture + Planning, for this stellar achievement!

This is a great moment of celebration for Architecture at Morgan!
