On Thursday, February 27, 2014, Kamille Jones and Troy Byam competed at the 10th Annual Urban Financial Services Coalition (UFSC) Oratorical Scholarship Competition. Each year the Central Maryland chapter sponsors a scholarship competition for students in the State of Maryland. Jones and Byam placed 1st and 2nd in the state (with only 8 points between them), making Morgan’s School of Business and Management (GSBM) state champions for a 7th consecutive year. For the last 7 years, GSBM Retention Program Coordinator Stepheca M. Sawyer has served as the trainer and coach.
Jones and Byam will compete against students in the region (which includes Toronto, Canada) on March 22 in Washington, DC to maintain the GSBM’s regional title. This summer, each region will send the 1st and 2nd place winners to UFSC’s International Conference in Chicago, IL. Morgan has been the international champions since 2011.
