Members of the Morgan State University Collegiate 100 Chapter traveled to New Orleans last week for the 27th Annual 100 Black Men of America Conference. Students met with corporate executives from several Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 companies, and volunteered in the city of New Orleans through the conference’s Health and Wellness Community Empowerment Project.

“The Collegiate 100 is different from other organizations on campus because we are organized solely for the purpose of mentoring our at risk youth and service to the community,” said Triston Young, President of the MSU Chapter. “Members of the Collegiate 100 of Morgan State University are distinguished leaders and role models who represent the motto “What they see is what they’ll be” at all times.”

This year’s conference, under the theme Optomizing Health and Wellness: Mind Body and Spirit, included mentoring and leadership seminars and guest appearances from music artists Ron Isley and MC Lyte, comedian Johnathan Slocum and more.

The Collegiate 100 of Morgan State University is an auxiliary department of the 100 Black Men of Maryland Incorporated and the 100 Black Men of America Inc. The Morgan State University Chapter was chartered in February 2011, and is the first Collegiate 100 chapter in the state of Maryland and Northeastern region.
