My Dear Morgan Family:
In less than two years from now, Morgan State University will begin a year-long celebration in recognition of our 150th birthday. That’s right–2017 will be a very special year in the history of our great University. Throughout the decades of our existence, Morgan men and women have led the way in leadership, in business and innovation, in breaking down glass ceilings and barriers, in improving the human condition, and in possessing preeminent character. Our institution has always valued respect for one another’s views and differences, while holding everyone within our community to the highest standards of excellence in all endeavors. We shall never sway from these values, for they are at the core of a solid, competitive, world-class Morgan education.
As you return to the campus following what I hope has been a relaxing Spring Break, I ask you to do so with a renewed sense of purpose, pride, drive and determination, and renewed reverence to our glorious history.
Starting next week, I will be holding community conversations within every residential hall on campus around the theme: “Living Our Morgan Values.” These conversations are designed to insure that we all understand the transformational goal of a Morgan education, a transformation that occurs in the classroom and outside of it.
The first of these conversations will be held on Monday evening (April 6th) 5pm-6pm in Rawlings, and 6pm-7pm in Blount. The rest of the conversations will take place on Tuesday and Wednesdayevenings within the other residential halls (locations and times will be announced on Monday).
I urge everyone to participate in these chats as we continue to cultivate a strong family environment at Morgan in honor of the great legacy that our ancestors left for us.
I look forward to our conversations next week.
Forward Morgan!
Sincerely,
President David Wilson
