Bears Set To Make Some Noise at NCAA East Regional

BALTIMORE, Md. — Four individuals and one relay team from Morgan State University will compete at the 2015 NCAA Division I East Regional track & Field Championships set for May 28-30 at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida.

The West Regional will be hosted at the University of Texas at Austin in Austin, Texas. The qualifiers out of these regions will compete in the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 10-13 in Eugene, Oregon.

The Bears have four athletes who will compete individually to qualify for a trip to the NCAA Championships.

Senior thrower Keith Andre Davis finished with the longest toss in the MEAC (66.61m) and he may be one to watch in this event. Davis finished 23rd out of 48 competitors with a toss of 63.15m in the East Regional last season. He was the lone representative of the Bears’ track & field program.

Joel Roberson will be making his first appearance in regionals where he will race against some of the top 400-meter runners. He posted a season-best 47.01 at the IC4A Championships to qualify for the meet.

Likewise, Onyx Johnson and Evan Johnson will be making their first trip to the East Regionals, competing in the 800-meter run and 400-meter dash, respectively.

The men’s 4×400-meter relay team, comprised of Evan Johnson, Haneef Hardy, Onyx Johnson, Joel Roberson and Rolando Reid, will also be in the competition. They head into the competition with the 11th best time in the region at 3:06.74.
