Morgan State University President David Wilson has been invited back to Harvard University to participate in the Graduate School of Education’s Institute for Educational Management (IEM). He will deliver the closing lecture on Thursday, July 27, from 2-3:30 PM in Larsen Hall.
This marks the third consecutive year President Wilson has visited Harvard to speak before an audience of senior-level administrators, institutional decision makers, and aspiring university presidents and chancellors from across the country about overcoming the challenges of leading a university in an era of immense transformation for American higher education. President Wilson’s lecture, “Reflections on Presidential Leadership,” will provide insights gained and lessons learned from his more than 30 years of experience in higher education administration. Additionally, the lecture will serve as an opportunity for IEM participants to engage in an exchange of ideas and share leadership reflections with an accomplished higher education leader.
Dr. Wilson’s previous participation as an IEM lecturer was met with overwhelmingly positive responses, prompting Harvard to bring him back for this year’s program. The 2017 Institute for Educational Management takes place from July 16-28.
IEM is an intensive, total-immersion experience that provides a rare opportunity for participants to assess their leadership skills, renew their commitment to higher education, and develop tangible strategies for long-term institutional success. IEM addresses the critical stewardship role played by senior-level leaders at their institutions and provides them with a core set of conceptual tools for understanding both the quantitative and qualitative aspects of effective institutional leadership.
Dr. David Wilson is the 12th president of Morgan State University. He holds four academic degrees including an Ed.M. in educational planning and administration, and an Ed.D. in administration, planning and social policy, both from Harvard University.
