Morgan Professor’s Research Cited in New Duke Study

Congratulations to Morgan’s Jared A. Ball, Ph.D., a research professor and professor of Communication Studies in the Institute for Urban Research, whose work, “The Myth of the Black Buying Power” was cited and incorporated in a new study from Duke University. The study,“What We Get Wrong About Closing the Racial Wealth Gap”, is the latest from the Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity at Duke and is led by renown economists Dr. William Darity, Jr. and Dr. Darrick Hamilton.

Ball’s ongoing research into the history of the myth of “buying power” is included as a central component in the report’s exposure of other myths related to common beliefs about wealth and race.
