Professor Ruth Connell Selected as 2015 Distinguished Educator of the Year

Ruth Connell, AIA, Associate Professor at Morgan State University School of Architecture + Planning was bestowed with AIA Maryland’s 2015 Distinguished Educator of the Year Award during AIA Maryland’s Design Awards celebration on September 17.  AIA Maryland congratulates Ruth on her well-deserved recognition as its 2015 Distinguished Educator of the Year.

Nominated by Christopher Morrison, FAIA, Chris stated in his letter of recommendation: “The connection between the academy and practice has been the critical link in the profession of Architecture since shifting away from the apprentice/master builder paradigm. An excellent teacher not only imparts knowledge, but inspires students to see themselves beyond who they are today, who they can become. Ruth Connell is and has been this critical link and this source of inspiration for several generations of architects. For the last 25 years, Ruth Connell AIA, Immediate Past Chair, Department of Architecture, School of Architecture and Planning at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland, has bridged the academy and profession through her teaching, mentorship, and development of innovative programs that bring students and practitioners together.”  Full Nomination Submission
