Governor’s Office Selects Morgan SWAN Students for Anti-Addiction PSA

The work of students in Morgan State University’s Screenwriting and Animation (SWAN) program is now being broadcast on several Baltimore television stations. The SWAN program’s new public service announcement (PSA) is one of two that have been selected to promote a new anti-addiction campaign by Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan’s Heroin and Opioid Emergency Task Force. The PSA is currently being aired on WBFF FOX 45, WUTB My TV Baltimore and WNUV The CW Baltimore.

MSU, Stevenson University and Towson University were the only institutions invited by the task force to participate in the new campaign. Production of Morgan’s winning video included SWAN students, faculty and staff. Students Joey Bruce, Charlotte Teague, Tyshaun Glover, Ty Stanley, Dawn Wilson and DeVonte King created the final submission. Faculty involved in the project included SWAN Coordinator Keith Mehlinger, SWAN Assistant Professor David Warfield and SWAN Adjunct Professor David Roberts. Staff participants included Devron Thornton and Kyle Yearwood. SWAN alumni Toroes Thomas and Blayre Pichon also assisted with this collaboration.
