Two Master of Architecture students in the School of Architecture and Planning, Marcella Massa and Jessica De Freitas, joined AIABaltimore’s third annual Good Design = Good Health Showcase, in February, to present their study on the Pigtown neighborhood in southwest Baltimore. The study is part of the studio project taught by SA+P professors Jason Charalambides, Ph.D., Mohammad Gharipour, Ph.D., and Cristina Murphy.
The presented project, titled “Building a Healthy Environment for the Southwest Baltimore Community,” was a precis of the work developed by students in Design Studio IV (ARCH 540), which examines physical, social and mental health in Pigtown as the foundation for the design of a wellness community center in the neighborhood.
This project continues MSU’s efforts, directed by professor Gharipour, to promote design and health in Baltimore and beyond.
