Morgan State University’s Center for Academic Success and Achievement (CASA) has been busy this past summer preparing a new group of first-time students to become ready for the academic year. More than 98 percent of the participants enrolled in the CASA Academy Summer Bridge Program, successfully completed a rigorous six-week academic program, granting them admittance into the university for the fall semester. Students who pass the requirements of the CASA Academy Summer Bridge Program are equipped with the necessary tools to succeed academically during their first year of college and therefore not required to take any developmental courses.
To-date, the CASA Academy has been very successful as an alternative admissions program for the University. Transitioning high school students who have applied to Morgan State University but do not meet the requirements for regular admission are referred to the program by the Office of Admissions and invited to apply to the summer academy. The program is designed to ease the transition from high school to college for students whose academic profile suggests the need for early intervention or additional preparation. Students must pass academy courses with a grade of “C” or better in order to enroll at Morgan in the fall.
