Three years ago, author and philanthropist James Patterson, who has written many books over the years, both for children and adults, selected students in Morgan State University’s School of Education and Urban Studies to receive a monetary gift in the form of 4-year scholarships to promote the education of future teachers. Patterson is a staunch believer in education as a means of improving people’s quality of life and at Morgan, he has invested in 16 future educators by fully funding their college education. Author James Patterson visited Baltimore’s Enoch Pratt Central Library on September 16th to speak to young people about the importance of reading and education, while giving away a number of books to those students. Eight of MSU’s Patterson Scholars had the chance to meet the author, ask questions and express their appreciation for the contribution to their education during his Baltimore library visit. The students found the famous writer to be engaging and “very easy to talk to.”
