Morgan Cheerleaders Bring Home Another Trophy

On the heels of taking the championship trophy in this year’s Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Cheerleader Competition, for the fourth year in a row, the Morgan State University Competition Cheer Team stunned and wowed the crowd at the NCA National Collegiate Championships held on April 11, 2014. The NCA National Collegiate Championship, the largest college competition in the nation, is held each year in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Morgan finished fourth in a field of 15 colleges during the preliminary rounds held on April 10th.  After making some minor adjustments the team was able to put their heart and soul on the mat for finals and earn the title of 2nd in the nation in the All-Girl I Division of NCA.

“Words can not express the joy and pride these ladies have given us today,” says Coach Theresa Gibson. “The extraordinary crowd support helped to launch these girls into overdrive. You could feel their energy exploding from the stage! They did not get any deductions. We could not have asked anything more from them by ending their season in this manner.”

Theresa Gibson and Kim Ross-Watkins coach the Morgan State University Cheerleaders with assistance from Letisha Lopez and John Grimshaw. At the same event last year, the team took a third place finish.
