Dr. Krishna Bista, an associate professor in Morgan’s School of Education and Urban Studies Department of Advanced Studies, Leadership and Policy, was selected as winner of the Comparative and International Education Society’s (CIES) prestigious ‘Best Book Award’ for his contribution to the publication Campus Support Services, Programs, and Policies for International Students. The book, which explores the role of university administration in successful implementation, regulation, and support of study abroad experiences, was selected by the CIES Higher Education Special Interest Group Awards Committee for making a unique contribution to developing scholarship in the field of international and comparative higher education, and showing originality and rigor. The organization will honor Dr. Bista at the CIES 2018 Conference in Mexico City.
CIES is a scholarly association dedicated to increasing the understanding of educational issues, trends and policies through comparative, cross-cultural and international perspectives. Founded in 1956, it is one of the oldest scholarly societies of international and comparative education with nearly 1000 institutional members, and 2500 individual members.
Dr. Bista is an accomplished scholar in the field of international higher education. In addition to his role at Morgan, he also chairs the Study Abroad and International Student Special Interest Group for CIES. He has published three books and has to his credit more than three dozen book chapters and research articles published in a variety of prestigious journals. His research focuses on college student experiences related to classroom participation, perceptions of academic integrity, faculty-student relationships, the role of advisors, and cross-cultural teaching and learning strategies in higher education.
