Morgan Team Excels in 3rd Annual National HP Business-Case Competition

A team of Morgan scholars representing the Earl G. Graves School of Business and Management (SBM) placed third at a recently held business-case competition sponsored by HP, the global technology developer and solutions provider. The 3rd Annual HP HBCU Business Challenge convened a national field of 30 universities and colleges to compete in a multidisciplinary challenge which showcased a variety of proficiencies including soft skills, problem solving, presentation capabilities and business savvy.

Participating teams were invited by HP’s National HBCU Business Deans Roundtable, a consortium of deans from various business schools, which Morgan’s Dr. Fikru H. Boghossian, dean of the School of Business and Management is a member.

The invited teams were tasked with addressing a specific solution to an actual HP business problem in their initial business proposal submissions. Morgan’s team, along with the remaining nine schools,  advanced beyond the first round and continued onto subsequent rounds in the competition, which included a virtual presentation and the production of a 3 to 5-minute commercial to market their novel business solution.

The Earl G. Graves School of Business and Management team proposed an integrated hybrid Bluetooth controller as a new product line that encompassed proposed partnerships, customizable bundles, environmentally friendly features and detailed strategic financial projections. The well-conceived business solution and presentation garnered a third-place finish for the five-person collective from MSU amid a highly contested field of HBCU teams from around the nation.

Morgan SBM HP Business Case Competition scholars included:

  • Jaida West, Junior, Finance
  • Allison Murdock, Senior, Finance
  • Manish Thapa, Senior, Accounting
  • Rose Marie Laure Kebe, Senior, Finance
  • Braxton Richardson, Freshman, Business Administration

Congrats to these students in their demonstration of the Morgan Way on the national stage!
