The School of Architecture and Planning (SA+P) students and faculty (Brian Stansbury and Gabriel Kroiz) collaborated with Morgan’s Theater, Music, Art, and Public Health departments on two events for the Imagining America Conference on October 2nd at Murphy Fine Arts Center.
The bamboo construction activity was part a workshop session: The Fourth Wall: Using the Arts to Engage Urban Communities in which participants (Randolph Rowell, Shirley Basfield Dunlap, E. Blaise DePaolo, Gabriel Kroiz) engaged in building, ceramics, storytelling and a moderated discussion on the use of arts in community engagement.
Below is the list of students who participated in the Bamboo Construction: Christina Schaller, Juwan Mcintyre, Israel Adeoye, Robert Huff, Emani Majors, Desean Morris, Kristen Hoover, Niles Parker, Maleik Flemming, David Ryan Couto, Gemaya Sanders, Sumayya Raji
The evening Keynote, Express Yourself! A Spoken Word & Drumming JAMM made use of the bamboo construction as the stage set for the evening’s performance. Spoken Word participants included SA+P student and alumnae, Lashia Daniels and Shernise Richardson (Poet Renae), respectively.
Great work to the SA+P crew!
